christmas movie night

As part of us trying to do something "Christmasy" each day in December, Lee & I have been watching one Christmas movie each week (we only have four on DVD). Last week's choice was "Love Actually" and we'd forgotten just how much we like that movie AND the soundtrack. Needless to say, we've both been rocking out to the music from the movie ever since. If you've never seen it, Lee & I highly recommend it but be prepared to jump around a bit as it's about a large cast of characters, not just one or two main characters. We watched this the night after I'd watched Bridget Jones' Diary, which meant that I got two nights in a row of Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Towards the end of Love Actually Lee asked why I was speaking with an English accent. Guess it started to wear off on me!

Tonight's choice was one I picked up a few weeks ago when I forced myself into Wal-Mart to do some Christmas shopping. Not sure now why I had to go there (I can't stand our Wal-Mart due to the amount of people that seem to be there no matter what time of day or night you go!) but it was necessary. I seemed to hit the jackpot on things that weren't even on my list and picking up a new Christmas movie was one of them. I just happened to pass the display of Christmas movies and "The Christmas Shoes" jumped out at me. Whenever that song comes on the radio I find myself welling up and we both really enjoy the stars of the movie...Rob Lowe (obviously I enjoy him more than Lee!) and Kimberly Williams-Paisley (yep, the wife of country superstar Brad Paisley). Therefore it was a no-brainer to pick up the movie. It was originally a tv movie on CBS but we hadn't seen it...OH MY GOSH! The song has nothing on the movie and just when I didn't think I could cry anymore, they started playing the song! Talk about waterworks! It was definitely a "good cry" and it really put things in perspective. Yet another movie we'd highly recommend...

The two we have left are "A Christmas Story" (this movie always reminds me of Christmas' growing up since it seemed like we always watched it) and the remake of "Miracle on 34th Street" (this was the first Christmas movie I ever owned and was the only one until a couple years ago). Both are great and it's such a fantastic way to wind down from the craziness of the day and enjoy the magic going on around you. I hope you're all finding (and enjoying!) the magic of the season...

Catching up again! Your decorations and everything in your house looks so wonderful! I bet the party was a lot of fun - certainly the table was just beautiful. Yes, you definitely need some colder weather, but a move? Let's trade - I need the warm weather and my golf clubs need to get out of the basement!
