better than expected

The sweet kitten checked out better than we'd anticipated! He (it's been confirmed!) did have a little problem with worms (which is very normal for an outside cat) and a little viral infection (hence the runny eyes), but otherwise he's in great health! They de-wormed him and gave him some medicine for his runny nose, sneezing & itchy ears. Since he tested negative for feline leukemia, we were able to move him into the house. The spare bath will be his new digs while we nurse him through his cold and get him ready for his first round of shots next week. Given that we found him and are his current nursemaids, I feel its only right for us to get to name him. That is only fair, don't you think?

Knowing we like to find a very fitting name, we've chosen Weber since his "safe" spot outside was the shelf on Lee's Weber grill (see photo above). What do you think? Is it a winner? I guess we'll just have to see how he likes it over the course of the next few days.

Oh, yeah, get this...he's about ten weeks old and weighs 2.5 pounds. Sweet kitty indeed.

"Welcome to the Dillard Family" is a bit premature. While I have, admittedly, become quite attached to the little guy, we're still actively looking for a good family to adopt him. I have some leads but nothing is set in stone just yet. My main focus is finding him a great family where he can thrive and get the amount of love he deserves! I'll keep you posted...
