Last night was a rather emotional one in our household [for me anyway]. After 15 seasons, ER aired it's very last episode and while I knew I'd be sad, I had no idea just how sad I would be. Prior to the finale NBC aired a retrospective show and somehow I managed to get Lee to watch it with me [he's never seen an episode of the show]. During this hour long special, I found myself getting teary-eyed. The emotion evoked in my by the writing of old shows, along with the tear filled thoughts from past & present stars of the show, really got to me. Lee even commented on how he missed out on one hell of a series [which he did].
Prior to losing him to dreamland [he had an early work meeting this morning] he actually watched part of the finale with me and I could see him getting totally caught up in it. Just like most episodes I found myself holding my breath because I was so caught up in the intense drama that was unfolding in front of my very eyes.I liked seeing familiar old faces...

And I loved seeing one of my favorite Gilmore Girls take a turn as an intern [but so wish she would have been a part of the entire final season - love her!]...
I will definitely miss my favorite "doctor" but thoroughly enjoyed watching them showcase him last night as he fought the "good fight" for the girl who almost died from alcohol poisoning. His character may be a hot head, but he has a huge heart...
If I, as an occasional viewer, found myself overly emotional, can you imagine how the cast & crew felt as they wrapped up the final show? I have to imagine the soundstage was filled with many tears that day...
Some people aren't happy with the finale because it didn't "wrap" everything up with a neat little bow on top but that's what I loved about it! It's real and ongoing and although we won't get to peak into their lives each week, I can imagine them out there doing just that...living their lives as ER personnel. They were true to their vision until the very end and I think it was done brilliantly.I took a break in the middle of their 15-year run and only tuned back in because hottie John Stamos joined the cast. I'm kicking myself for tuning out all of that time and can already tell you that the dvd set with the entire series will be on my Christmas list. I've already informed Lee that we'll be watching the episodes together this time and I can't wait to relive all those amazing moments.

p.s. There's a rumor that NBC is working on a ER-spinoff that will star John Stamos. While I'm not sure if this show will ever see the light of day, I can assure you that if it does, I'll definitely be tuning in.

I was right there with you Cyndi. I just got into all of it, but missed the scene that you show at the top of the blog page. I was so emotional as well with all of the folks who have come and gone over the years. I was supposed to be on a conference call and simply chose not to be so I could watch ER. MJ and Roger were watching Grey's and I am sure that Roger was in dreamland before too long and MJ finished watching it herself. She really likes Grey's and Private Practice. She didn't get into ER like I did.
I am glad that they are going to put the series on DVD so we can see the episodes that we missed. It was hard to believe that little Ms. Green had grown up and was now going to be a doctor. I thought that was so cool and was surprised when that I recognized her when they first brought her into the scene. Sherry Stringfield looked really good I thought too. Dr. Carter, Green and Ross were some of my favs for ever so long.
Thank you for the message today.

I taped it, so haven't seen it yet. I, too, watched it for years, then drifted away. I am really looking forward to seeing this special.
I never watched a single episode, but your tribute kind of makes me wish I had!
I totally cried! You know what got me, and gives me goose bumps just thinking about it? Was how they rolled out the "old" opening sequence. Very nice touch. I also stopped watching for a few years and started back up when John Stamos came on. I absolutely LOVE John Stamos. I have since he was Blackie on General Hospital. I'm going to miss ER and it's also on my Christmas list. I plan to watch it from start to finish once I get it!
