girls trip {san diego}
My trip to San Diego with my mom, sister, grandma, aunt, and cousin last weekend {in pictures [mostly from my iphone]}...
Instead of booking multiple hotel rooms we went in together and rented a beautiful house. I took this while standing in the pool and looking toward the hot tub. Check out that fountain - amazing!
Another view of the pool & hot tub. I'm not usually a huge hot tub gal but this one was incredible - absolutely huge and so beautiful. All six of us hung out here the first night and is a memory I'll likely not forget for a very long time.
My sister & I enjoying a morning dip in the pool. This {to me} was one of the coolest features of the house...total indoor/outdoor living. This entrance to the pool is literally a step outside of the living room. Incredible.
My mom & sister. We spent much of Saturday playing International Rummy, drinking bloody mary's and champagne, and catching up with each other - absolutely lovely!
We watched lots of chick flicks - Two Weeks Notice {above}, The Devil Wears Prada, Wedding Date, and Hairspray. [The reason I took this picture is because I fell for its size & clarity and wanted to show Lee -- I was not taking a picture for the sake of remembering the movie. Promise!]
Saturday night dinner made by the grandkids {Carol, Debbie, and I}. Pork roast with prosciutto & rosemary, potatoes, spinach salad, and apple-cinnamon cake - yum!
Sunday morning we splurged and took grandma to brunch at Hotel del Coronado in the crown room. Here are the birthday girls under their crown.
Not the greatest picture but I love the look of all the crowns.
Before we gorged ourselves we posed for a quick picture [this one is from my mom's camera]. I'm hoping someone got a better shot than this since the only one that looks like she's having fun is my aunt!
The food was INCREDIBLE! Pretty much anything & everything you could ever want is available and I'll admit this was the first of three "rounds." I didn't want to miss out on anything. Don't worry, I wasn't a "clean plater" - just wanted to taste it all.
The birthday girls were surprised with a dessert plate and the singing of "Happy Birthday." Since there were so many other tempting dessert options our sweet server boxed them up for us to take home.
Round 4 for me was this dessert sampler platter. I promise you I shared most of it and only sampled each option. The only things I ate all of were the strawberries in Grand Marnier and the macaroons {they were the best I've ever had!}
Since we pushed our bellies to the limit at brunch we ate a later dinner of appetizers made by my mom and aunt - delicious!!
