Each year we make a trip to North Carolina to see the girls and visit Lee's family. This year we coordinated the trip around seeing Jordan cheer {she made the JV squad this year} and had a fun {albeit cold} time. Unfortunately her team didn't win {they're winless for the year} but we loved watching her shine.

I'd be lying if I said that watching her didn't bring back lots of memories from my days cheering. Talk about a long time ago!

I got to see one of my best friends {Sharon} while in the area and although our visit was super short, it was better than nothing. She was one of the first people I met when I moved to North Carolina in 2001 and we've been friends ever since. Love her!

On Saturday we headed to Chapel Hill to cheer for Lee {and Lee's dad's} alma mater ~ UNC Tarheels. It turned out to be homecoming weekend so it was the perfect time to visit.

We did some shopping on Franklin Street before the game and the girls decided to ham it up for the camera. Don't worry, they didn't buy anything from this shop {that's a leather-esque mini dress}.

While walking down Franklin St. I saw this adorable
bakery and convinced Lee & Natalie {ok, so Nat didn't need any convincing!} that we needed to go in and check it out.

Look at the amazing mosaic entry way! So clever & gorgeous.

The inside was pretty cute too and before I knew it Lee was buying 6 cupcakes to share with our group at the homecoming tailgate. Weren't they cute...

Not only were they cute but there were one of the best cupcakes I've ever eaten. Seriously. I'd only wanted a bite after filling up on bbq & coleslaw but before I knew it I'd eaten an entire half {and could have eaten more if I allowed myself}.

Lee's brother David LOVES the band and, quite honestly, is probably the highlight of the game for him. Here he is with the band in the background.

Lee with his dad, sister, brother, brother-in-law, and daughter. Such a fun picture!

It's been awhile since Lee's captured me with the girls. Love it! Not sure I love that I'm almost the shortest in the pic but love them dearly. They're growing into beautiful young women. Whoa! When did that happen? {They were 6 & 3 when I met them and 8 & 5 when we got married.}

This is one of my favorite pics from the weekend because there are so few pictures of just Natalie & I. Love!

Lee's little girl isn't quite so little any more. Before we know it she'll be in college!!!

David got a kick out of hugging & posing with the mascot, Ramses. It was fun to watch!

The historic Bell Tower on the UNC campus. It was a truly gorgeous day. Loved the Carolina Blue sky!

Lunch was fantastic and made my belly VERY happy! I had to laugh though when I tweeted this picture because
Leslie commented on the verbiage "pig pickin's." I didn't notice it at first but I must admit, it's a pretty funny thing to read, especially when you're not from/have lived in the South. The food was incredible and the sweet tea was exactly how it was supposed to be - yum!

Speaking of "yum" the cupcakes from
Sugarland made everyone smile...

Inside the stadium where we {luckily} won the game, 21-17. It wasn't pretty at all and, in fact, we didn't take the lead until about 5 minutes before the end of the game.

It may have been an exhausting day but it was super fun and worth every minute!

Absolutely LOVE all the cute pics! And that mosaic is gorgeous! I may not have made it inside...oh who am i kidding, there was a bakery of course I would have made it inside! :-) Looks like you guys had a great time!
What a great synopsis of the day! It all sounds like so much fun. And I can't get over what gorgeous young women Jordan and Natalie are.
I agree with Sadie. The girls are beautiful, and you all looked like you had a wonderful time!
The mosaic floor is amazing!!! Wow. I want something like that. Love the family pictures, Cyndi! And as a curly girl, I have to say I'm loving that Natalie is embracing her curly hair! Every time I see your pics of North Carolina I think it looks like the perfect state!
I'm jealous! When we get together with the buzzard's family, it usually involves too much Bud Lite and a lot of rude stories I have heard a million times.
I have to clarify one thing, I'm not the one drinking Bud Lite and telling stories.
To piggy back on everyone else, Jordan and Natalie are growing into such beautiful girls!
Oh, this sounded like so much fun! I loved reading about your visit and seeing all of the photos of your family :-)
